Turning Dreams into Reality: Overcoming Self-Doubt and Taking Action
There are people less qualified than you, doing what you want to do, because they’ve decided to just f***ing do it.
Punchy, or truthful?
OK.
Disclaimer No. 1: it's obviously not that simple.
Disclaimer No. 2: if you've lost your intuition, if you've lost your confidence, your mojo, your va va voom, it's bloody hard to work out what it even is you want to do, let alone JFDI (just f***ing doing it).
Disclaimer No. 3: there is nothing wrong with what you're doing right now if it's working for you. With sitting in a place of comfort and ease. If it's working for you, fabulous darling.
But the best thing you can possibly do for yourself now is to ask yourself the question I think Tara Mohr phrases so beautifully:
"Am I being more loyal to my fears or to my dreams?"
If you’re getting really stuck about what you want to do, here are five powerful steps that might help you to find your way:
Journal:
(or write a diary entry) ideally in some beautiful stationery on this question: “What would my ideal day/ month look like if all practical considerations were set aside?” with the sub-questions "what would I be wearing? Who would I be seeing? Where would I be working? What would I be eating? What would my working hours be? What would I do for fun?”Create a life pie-chart:
Colour in the following sections: work, family or relationships, me (wellness/ self-care), me (physical), environment, and experiences. something like this…
3. Download my FREE Career Pondering Worksheet
A massively comprehensive FREE resource (no “just download this if you sign up to my mail list - though you can at the bottom of this blog…)
4. Seek encouragement:
Ask five people you trust to name five brilliant things about you. Write them down on a beautiful piece of paper. Look at them daily. Start to believe them.
5. Coaching:
There are loads of free career advice sites, but if you’re looking for greater help, have a free discovery with a coach. I offer them but I may not be the perfect coach for you - do your research, take your time, and remember, you are wonderful.
And finally remember this: nobody’s social media is their reality. Nobody got to where they are today, overnight. It all takes time. None of us know anyone’s real and detailed back story, with all the irritating, trying, and pernickety details. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else who seems like they’ve got their s*** together - we’re all just doing our best, and comparisonitis ain’t going to help. But, also remember this: if they can do it, why can’t you?!
With love,
Laura x
