Hello
I’m laura!
I’ve got a lot to share with you!
Yes, I’m a coach, mentor and strategist for small business owners, freelancers, creatives and performers.
Yes, I’m a singer, composer, conductor and music teacher.
Yes, I make wildly useful and beautiful products.
You can learn about how to work with me (or how to buy stuff from me, or get stuff for free here). But here’s a chance to really get to know me.
Multipassionate Me
I commissioned the magnificent Trina Dalziel to create this image to best represent my multipassionate life. Here’s why we chose each element:
Bird
I am a creative, and I am a dreamer. This bird represents how it feels to let my dreams soar. It represents how I feel when I play, sing or hear music I love. It represents the ambition and joy I have for my clients, that they too can let their ideas breathe and soar.
Dahlias
I am a passionate and lazy gardener. We are so fortunate to have a big garden, and at its best it is a blaze of colour. At its worst it is parched. My favourite flowers are dahlias because of their abundance and how they extend the season, but I wish they had scent.
Listening Leaf
I spend a lot of my time listening: to my clients, to my and others’ music, to my children, to nature, to my own thoughts. We wanted to reflect the naturalness of this with leaves, to further reflect my love of nature. Most things can be solved with a good stomp in a park or wood.
Hands
As your coach and mentor I “hold space” for you to explore your brilliant ideas. I am also extremely tactile, and if you’re happy to you’ll get cuddled by me (one of the reasons I love having three kids!) I use my hands as a creative force, and I love having my nails done!
Nest
I have three remarkable children. I think they’re incredible (and I love it when they’re not constantly asking me for snacks). I also have had three miscarriages, little stars twinkling down on us. My husband deserves a mention here: a proper co-parent who is our rock, and with whom I have pass-agg conversations about whose work needs to take priority at certain points in the year.
Suitcase
This is the space for me to fill with more wonderful ideas, projects, schemes, hobbies, dreams, children…?!
Music
Music and music education is at the core of my creativity and of my family: my children make music (violin, piano, cello, singing), my husband is a musician, my parents are musicians, my sister and her partner… I have played the violin since I was four and now love my weekly amateur orchestra, as well singing and conducting professionally and teaching music in the classroom and 121.
And also…
My favourite Food
I don’t have one…but… afternoon tea, something with eggs, (brunch joy), steak with homemade garlic mayonnaise and loads of spinach.... and chocolate should never be in the fridge and should definitely be 70% cocoa minimum (or Minstrels…)
My favourite DRINK
Flat whites, fizzy water, champagne, small glass of Malbec
favourite places
My sofa, Somerset (well West Country in general), park or woodland, my garden, a buzzy cafe with good wifi and better flat whites, a good nail bar where I can listen to a podcast and be looked after, home.
advice I’d give you
Have you drunk enough water? Do you want to go for a walk? Listen to this podcast. Go to bed earlier than you think. There are always people out there who’ll be your friends, I promise. Do you want a hug?
best film i’ve sung for
The latest Captain Marvel film - an all-female director and producer team, a female composer, a female conductor (the composer’s wife), the best music ever, the best energy ever.
